Environmental Extravaganza: EnviroGanza

Jack Golden’s Environmental Extravaganza: EnviroGanza, is a new show by this award winning environmental entertainer. Combining elements from his highly acclaimed shows, Garbage Is My Bag, A Litter Bit Goes a Long Way and Water Water Everywhere, he has created an exciting and unique program that covers recycling, litter prevention and water issues, including water conservation and point/non point source pollution.

Environmental-Extravaganza

Since 1989, Jack Golden as the comedic experts, Dr. T, Les Litter and Brook Rivers, has been helping hundreds of thousands of children around the country explore serious issues about our wasteful habits in the hilarious context of a professionally staged variety show.  In theaters and schools, Jack Golden uses the power of live performance to engage children with facts about our environmental problems and a positive model of how to solve them. Emphasizing recycling, waste reduction, litter prevention, water conservation and the impact of water pollution, Jack Golden presents children with rewarding and important ways that they can directly effect their environment.  The goal of the program is to strengthen new attitudes and responsibilities toward our common resources in our homes, communities and worldwide.

EnviroGanza is a 45-minute program designed for grades K-8. This theater or in-school performance is a fast paced blend of mime, comedy, song, circus skills and dramatic story. It is appropriate either as the highlight of an environmental curriculum unit, or as a “stand alone” special event. In addition to strengthening the attitudes of young people towards the environment, the presentation is also a theatrical experience. Using the power of live performance, students will experience how theater in particular and the Arts in general can be used to communicate and express ideas in dynamic and compelling ways.

Because the program is funny and light hearted, it provides an environment conducive to learning. Laughter can be a surprisingly effective teacher.

EnviroGanza is designed to meet many national and state learning standards for science and environmental studies and is also aligned with various national theater and arts standards.

Jack Golden, creator of “EnviroGanza”, has been a professional variety artist since 1981. He has performed with the world-famous Pickle Family Circus of San Francisco and the award-winning “New Vaudeville” comedy troupe, The Wright Brothers. He is also the recipient of the EPA Administrators Award for recycling education.
